Hello! I am a first time Mom and my daughter was born on March 2, 2008. She is now 5 days old and I have a wuestion about her diapers. She has some blood in her diaper when we change her. I am noticing that she has bloody spots in her diapers about 3-4 times a day. Is this normal? Also, how far is it ok to wipe to get it clean? I was told at the hospital that it was possible that she could have it but I am suprised at how much. This has been going on for about 3 days now and I have been bothering the pediatrician a lot with questions that I keep forgetting to ask him about it. Help me if you can!

They say it's normal for little girls, although my girls didn't have any blood in their diapers. I would call my pediatrician - that's what they're there for and they're use to the calls, especially from new parents. I'd be worried that something was wrong and would want to be reassured that she's okay.

Congratulations to you and DH!

It might just be from hormones passed from you. I would call the doctor though and make sure! I understand about calling the doctor alot. I would call my ob once a week at least my entire pregnancy you could set your watch to it. Called afterhours probally 8 times. Then after he was born I would call Noahs doctor alot too when he was really little. Thats there job to answer questions and make sure your baby is healthy there is no stupid questions. I wouldn't feel like you were bothering them as a new parent its scary at first. Questions are usally welcomed! Hope that helps

I was warned that some baby girls might have mini periods and to not be alarmed if mine did. It is from an excess of the mothers hormones. My daughter did have a swollen vulva and little breasts. But it never hurts to call an advise nurse or your pediatrician. That is what they are there for.

Did you give birth in a hospital? If so, I would call the floor you were on and speak to the nurses! They told me to call them if I wanted to, they are there around the clock so you are not going to be getting anyone up! I did call a few times, it was great to have the support and not have to call my reg. ped. Just a thought!!
