We basically got pregnant in 5 min. and to tell you the truth I was a little disappointed. Obviously no one wants to have problems TTC but I kinda missed out on the whole "trying" thing with dh. There just wasn't the anticipation and elation at finally conceiving. My advice...It's only been one month. Have some fun with it.

Hi Kellymommy!

I just have to say hun you're BLESSED being able to get pg so easily. Believe me when I tell ya planned sex for the purposes of getting pregnant after 5 YEARS is NO FUN! It plain BLOWS! I mean when ya gotta give your dh a calender and say ok we have to have sex this day, this day and this day this month....month after month, year after year of this just sucks. It has definately had a long term impact on our sex life. We want another baby once our daughter is a year but I don't look forward to ttcing at all. I pray we don't have issues this time but we will go straight to Clomid if we don't get pg after a few months.

I see your point too but had to share my point of view just cuz. :-)

Believe me I do appreciate that we had no problems. My best friend has been going through complications for several years now and is finally moving on to IVF. It's been very rough on their marriage and even personal psyches.

I did wish for a little longer of a "trying" period just to enjoy the whole experience of trying to create this little baby. Kind of like enjoying the stage of being pregnant too. I just think that all the different stages that a couple goes through to grow a family are all a little different and I wanted all of them.

Anyway, my main point was that after only one month and no other signs of issues there is so much joy and love and fun involved in this part of the process to enjoy - and not yet worrying about possible complications.

It took us 5 months with our first child (I was 26, dh was 28). We got pregnant on the first try with our second child (I was 28, dh was 30).

I understand the anxiety about not getting pregnant right away, but most people don't get pregnant on their first try. Also a word of encouragement - it was easier for us to get pregnant the second time around and I was 28. I felt some anxiety after the 4th month of not getting pregnant with my first child because 3 couples that are friends were having fertility issues, but then we got pregnant and 2 of the 3 couples also got pregnant. Good luck!!

Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I have been trying to conceive since December with no luck. It can be upsetting, especially when you have been ready to be a mom for a while (like me). And for some strange reason it seems like everyone around you gets pregnant when you are trying. I just let myself be sad for a day or so and then remember that I will get pregnant when it is supposed to happen. Most couples who are actively trying at my age (27) take 5-7 months to get pregnant - so I just have to work on being patient.

Hang in there; sometimes it can take a little while. I had two miscarriages (at 21 and 23) before conceiving the twins. My twins were born when I was 25. I did undergo infertility treatments to conceive the second one and the twins-- so I guess my total TTC time was a little over 2 years. Now my third one--I didn't know about her until I was 2 1/2 months along (under alot of stress at the time), and I was 34 when she was born.
Best wishes!

I conceived the first time I ovulated with #1-ovulating took 3 months using the sticks. I was 24. I was 29 with #2, and the sticks never said I ovulated in 6 mos, but I'm 7 months pregnant now, so obviously the sticks don't always work. Don't get discouraged. I definitely know how you feel-thinking that things should work like clockwork. Good luck for next month! Have fun!

It took us close to two years to get pregnant.... after 1+ year of trying I was diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian syndrom and put on metformin to regulate my hormones (in hopes that I would ovulate).... in less than 3 months I was pregnant and super happy. I did however have to remain on the metformin for the 1st trimester to reduce the chance of miscarriage.

Don't give up hope.... sometimes it just takes awhile

Thanks everyone for their support! Right now I am just trying to enjoy the trying part (lol). I'm going to ovulate in a week or so, so here's hoping!
