I have a few questions.

1. Do you use a cloth diaper cover and is it lined with plastic? If you use an all in one, do you know if there is a plastic lining in it?

2. What do you do to wash them?

I used these:

Kushies Catalogue
(click on diapering tab once you get to link)

However since I had my kids many moon ago now, I've heard about Fuzzi Bunz which are way better rated.
Fuzzi Bunz Diapers - Prints and Colors

I like the all in ones because they are easy to use and include the plastic covering. We used the folded ones for a time when we were without a dryer and had to hang them to dry.

I just 'dump' any solids in the toilet and flush, then toss the diaper in whatever container you use it for. At the end of the night when I put them to bed, I'd have one full load of diapers to wash. They'd be in the washer by 8, in the dryer by 9, and in the morning I'd start all over. I even had two in diapers at the same time for a while.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have about it although it has been a while. I have friends doing it now though. They love their Fuzzi Bunz

I use Fuzzi Bunz on ds now. We love them. It has a fleece inside and PUL outside. I'm not sure how to describe PUL, it's waterproof but not really "plastic-y" like you might think. Then you use an insert between the two layers which is what actually absorbs the urine. (The fleece inner keeps baby's skin dry.)

I keep a kitchen trash can with a PUL liner in the laundry room for dirty diapers. I shake the insert out and toss it all in there. On wash day (I have enough diapers to go 2 days) I just dump it all into the washer. I do a cold rinse (sometimes soak), hot wash, then extra cold rinse. When the baby is exclusively breastfed the poopy diapers can just be dropped into the pail as is. When they start on solids (or formula) the poop gets more solid. Then just shake off the solids into the toilet. You can either give it a quick swish in the toilet or many cd users have something called a diaper sprayer attached to the toilet and spray it off. Think the sprayer on your kitchen sink. If your a poop-a-phobe they make flushable liners that you could use. also keep in mind that by the time the poop is getting more solid they are also much less frequent. I now some people think it would be time consuming or really gross, but it's actually not either. I much prefer it to a weeks worth of stinky poopy disposable diapers in a hot garage waiting for trash day.

Thank you! We actually have nice solid poop here so I know that's not going to be a problem. I'm all ready to switch over...it's my husband who is not so ready.

I only have my 9 m/o dd in diapers, and I use cloth. I use the regular, plain-jane folded cloth diapers and vinyl pants. They're seperate pieces; I pin the cloth diaper on her, then slip the pants over it.

Now that dd's started solids, her poops are able to be shaken out into the toilet, but if they're runny I swish the diaper around in the toilet until it comes out clear. I have a trash can with a lid by the toilet where I put them. When it's a wet diaper, I usually reuse the pants, but if it's messy I throw them in the pail with the diaper.

I have enough to last two-three days. I usually give them a hot soapy pre-wash then throw other dirty clothes in with them and do laundry as usual. My dryer's broken right now, so I'm hanging everything up to dry.

I made my own liners and use a cover with it. at night i use rubber pants over the cloth. i also use a piece of felt on top of the liner. the poo does not stick to it. I throw it all in a bucket with a soaking solution. wash and line dry and good to go the next day.
