Our third baby is now three weeks old, and arrived about 4 weeks early. He is on the smaller side (still under 7 lbs) and the cloth diapers I had ready for him are NO WHERE near ready to fit him. I have several different kinds, but none of them will fit his wee little bum yet. For those who have successfully cloth diapered, at what weight did you find your newborn was able to fit into the "small" size? I really do not want to outlay a whole bunch of money for "newborn" size cloth, but then I am outlaying a bunch for pampers swaddlers right now....

My son was a chunky newborn at 7 lbs, and he did not fit into the smalls right away, we used FB and SB... It probably took about 1 month before he was able to wear the cloth without leaks....his legs had to put some more chunk on lol..

This time around I am just going to use a Bummis NB cover, and some prefolds for those first few weeks... They are very much smaller, and babies though use a bunch of diapers, dont wet or soak through a diaper as fast, as they do when they are a few months old...

What kinda diapers are you using???? DO you have any prefolds??? I may have a cover, I can lend you till your babe grows into the bigger ones??? My baby is not due till July.. So plenty of time for it to get use till this one gets here

Thank you so much for the offer! I am in Ontario, so with shipping, etc... to borrow, I might just use your idea and buy a newborn cover or two. I do have some prefolds, but they seem MASSIVE, too on him -- the babe literally has no bum.... LOL I will give it a go, though. I have a great shop here that stocks bunches and bunches of different kinds, so maybe I will take him in one day soon.

I have some prefolds, some fuzzibunz, happy heinies, one motherease bamboo (which I am excited to try, but looks especially HUGE) and a few older style. From the look of things now, he will fit into the fuzzibunz first, but it is still a few growth spurts away. I CD'ed with my last babe, but he was bigger and older when I started, so this weeny little bum thing is new to me.

Thanks, for your help!
