Wow - I offered ds1s clothes to my SIL when she became pregnant, when she was done with them I got them back. Now, as soon as ds3 outgrows things I'm getting rid of everything. If she came to me now and told me she was "ready for my hand me downs" I'd be shocked... I just can't believe people think this way!

I don't know your inlaws of course but if she had 4 miscarriages like that, I would wonder if maybe they hadn't gotten anything because they were worried something might go wrong this time around? And even though this baby is pretty much full term, maybe they are still trying not to get their hopes up? But that is me.

And I agree, no one should ever assume that they are getting your hand me downs!

It is quite possible that, due to the miscarriages, they simply chose not to share with MIL some of the details. Or they haven't prepared at all, in which case they will figure out what they need when the baby arrives.
dont jump to conclusions.

My SIL is Jewish, and because of what she called superstition, they never did anything until baby was born, either.

WOW!!!! I gave my sil all my stuff, but even then she kept saying "You don't have to do that". I think I would have been floored if she came up to me and started asking for more or if mil asked me to give it to her. Good Luck. Hopefully it is all a big misunderstanding. Maybe they told your mil they thought you might have offered, but since you didn't they will get their own stuff (which is fine), or maybe your mil just thought HERSELF that you should have given them these things.
