Not sure what is going on. Had this happen a few times during one of my other pregnancies and the doc said he couldn't find anything wrong. Okay here is what is going on:
I won't have any pain in my stomach then all of a sudden it feels like someone shocked me, I pulled a muscle, or been stabbed me real quick then the pain is immediately gone. It's more annoying than painful and when it happens, if I am holding something, I almost drop it. That would be scary if I were holding my daughter!
I just want to know if anyone has had that happen and if their doc said there was a reason behind it.
I know it isn't the baby kicking or contractions but that's all I do know about it.

Could it be ligament/muscles expanding? How far along are you?

Yes, I had the same symptoms with both of my pregnancies and my OB/GYN told me that it was probably muscle spasms or the baby putting excessive pressure on a nerve. Like you said, it is really more shocking than painful, but catches you off guard!

I was going to say the same thing. I had this happen and I called the hospital and they said ligament movement.

You probably pulled a muscle either that the baby is getting bigger and needed more room. If its still bothers you call your doctor. I remembered when I was 6 months pregnant with DS I fell down the stairs carrying a laundry basket I felt a pain for a little bit but as soon as I sat down it went away.

This was the case with me. Before I even knew I was pregnant this was happening (and I was hoping it was cramps b/c I knew I could be pregnant but didn't exactly want to be!). Then after I found out I was pregnant I was afraid it was a tubal pregnancy, but it was just ligament pain. My sister recently had a historectomy, and was having this pain b/c her endometriosis was causing her uterus to tip, sort of like it does in a pregnancy. It sucks. Feel better!! It'll all be worth it in the end, but you know that since you're already a mom!

I can relate. I am 34 weeks and have had pain for awhile. It occurs at least once a day if not more on the side of my stomach. I also get a pain below my belly...sometimes if I hold my belly up it helps a little. Then there is another pain that I get down below where my leg and crotch meet. This one hurts the most and is pretty constant.

The doctor and nurse both said that this sometimes happens with pregnancy. The good news is that it should end when you have the baby. It may be good news to them, but when you hurt it seems like forever! But, the pain is nothing compared to how great the joy will be soon!

Good Luck!
