What do you use for bug bites? Dd has about 6 or 7 bites and I have no bug bite cream? Any homemade ideas?

I have used Toothpaste on them baking soda and also bough the no itch stuff made for bug buites (its a small tube so it works to pop in the purse for the outings)

good luck on the bites!! I love summer but those bugs are soo Annying!!

a paste with baking soda and water or a paste with meat tenderizer and water will work. The meat tenderizer is what my uncle who's a pharmacist always told us to use.

Is there an insect repellent that you can use? DD will be 11 months next week. I heard Avon's Skin So Soft is safe for kids, but anything else?

Also, how about bee stings? what do you do for kids then?

Ammonia, applied topically, is supposed to help. Yes, you can spray them with Windex if the one you have contains ammonia.

I have a really itchy mosquito bite on my leg right now. I ended up having to take a Benedryl to sleep.

our kids doctor told us to use apple cider vinegar...put some on a cotton ball and dab it on the bite...it stings for a second or two but it does not itch.

Thanks so much. I did put baking soda on them last night, but it didn't seem to have helped. It could have been because she was itching them in the crib this morning before I got her up. I will try the meat tenderizer. Thanks!

Evidently a mosquito was in the house this morning and it bit my oldest several times this morning. I gave him Benadryl and will find out when I get home if it helped. Hopefully he wasn't falling asleep in class!

I am severely allergic to bug bites and mosquitoes are the bane of my summer. My legs look like they have giant oozing welts all over them. I have found that the itching will subside if I apply ammonia IMMEDIATELY after the bite. As soon as I realize I'm bit. If it's a half hour later, it's too late.
