Help! My 17 month old son will still only rock to sleep. After rocking him for about 10 minutes I am now finally able to put him in his crib for a bit, but he needs to learn how to fall asleep on his own during nap time!
I don't get it, because he puts himself to sleep every night without rocking.
Does anybody have any suggestions to make this transition quick and easy??

What ever methode you use try to stick with it that is going to be the key. it is going to take a while.. if this has been the norm for him since the beginning.

Awwwwwwww personally i don't see a problem with taking ten minutes to rock him if that's what he likes. It is only ten minutes and pretty soon you'll be wishing you could cuddle him and he won't want to.

Try to look at it that way.

The only other option is following more of a night time routine....and he'll probably cry it out for a couple days before he gets the idea he needs to do it on his own.

Since Bob was 15 months old, I have just put him in his crib. If he doesn't sleep, he doesn't sleep. I give him an hour and if he isn't asleep, I will get him up. I need my time to rest, too.

I may be alone but sometimes i still rock my 3 year old. There will come a day soon enough that she doesn't want me to hold her at all why not do it now.
