Have any of you had a 4D ultrasound? Would you recommend having one? I am 23 weeks now, so I have a few weeks to decide. TIA

I had one done with my youngest, because I couldn't stand not knowing that she would be a girl. They weren't sure at the ultrasound appt.
It was really a great keepsake. They let me choose music to play in the background on a dvd they made for us. I chose a lullaby cd and it is the same lullabies she falls asleep to now. I loved seeing the similarities once she was born.

Yes, I would totally do it! My doctor got a 4D ultrasound just days before my 20 week appointment with my oldest. If fact, the sales rep was in the office the day of my appointment and he stayed for my appointment and they all played with the machine for awhile. It was SO dang cool! I have tons and tons of great pictures. I also got to do the 4D ultrasound with the other two kids but the first time was when we really got the great shots.

I made an appointment for a 4D ultrasound. It is still about a month and a half away. I scheduled it for about 30 weeks. I am a little hesistant to actually see the babies face as that has always been a wonderful surprise when they are born. (This is my fourth.) Still, this will be a neat experience and the other kids should really enjoy it too! Thanks for the comments.

I'm not trying to be a downer here, but do insurance companies cover this expense?? Just wondering because i had one hell of a time getting my insurance company (at that time) to cover an ultrasound that was actually for a valid reason(checking on my plancenta previa issues), they didn't want to cover it because they thought i was just having it done to find out the sex of the baby(we couldn't tell anyway). Of course this was back in 1991.
I was always told that doctor's really didn't like to take too many ultrasounds and now i see places of business popping up that ONLY do these types of ultrasounds, i hope these people are professionally trained. Sorry if i am being a downer, i am just curious.

I had one we wanted one. We did have to pay for it but knew that. We had to sign a think that it was for entertainment purpose only. they didn't do any of the other US stuff like measurements, I did have a reg one first that was scheduled it was just how they worked out. AT the office I went to the lady whom did the reg ones did the 4D one also. I do know that some Inc do cover them but most still don't unless there is a issue and then sometimes they are covered.
