So it's 4 am and I have been up since 3 unable to sleep. I felt uncomfortable and then just couldn't fall back aleep. So here I am, up on Mommysavers. I have 2 more months! Isn't this early to not be sleeping? I remember from my first pregnancy always staying up in the middle of the night, but I thought it was just the last month. It just still feels like I have so long to go!

I remember that happening to me. Your hormones really go crazy. Problem is, that then a new baby keeps you up, and then when they do start sleeping, you stay awake, just knowing they will be waking up at some point...usually when you want to get back to sleep. Then, you start staying up because it's the only time you can clean, then you stay up even later, even if you're not keyed up, because it's the only time you can get to yourself.

I've been doing melatonin (didn't take any tonite, can't you tell?) But I don't know if it's safe during pregnancy. It's safe stuff, but I just wouldn't push it during pregnancy. Can you get dh to give you a massage after a nice, gentle bath with the lights low? And read a boring book?

I can usually sleep for about 3 or 4 hours a night now. Then once my DDs get on the bus I come home and sleep another 3 hours. Its not easy being pregnant!!! I give up trying to force myself to sleep and go downstairs and watch tv and have a snack. Then I go back up and try to sleep before the alarm wakes me up. Its been this way for a couple of months on and off. I never had that with my other pregnancies, just this one.

I didn't sleep much the whole last trimester. I would just move to the couch and watch TV or read. I tried to aim for at least 8 hours of "rest", since sleep was a no go. I just tried to stay inactive during "sleep" times. DH got used to me moving from bed to couch to bed all the time. If I stayed in bed, I'd just toss and turn and eventually wake him.

Glad I am not alone here! DH asked me when I got back to the bed this morning if I liked our "setup." Basically do I like falling asleep on the couch, then coming to be, then getting back up etc. I said I don't like it but I am not sure I have much a choice here! Right when I felt like I could back to sleep at 5:30 or so the baby woke up and went crazy in there! I think I have a wild man in my belly!

I don't think i've gotten more than 3 hours at a time in the past 6 years. It's the worst with this pregnancy. I'm uncomfortable and hot (even though I keep the house freezing) and just can't sleep. I have almost 3 months to go. The good part is that I'm already prepared sleepwise for a newborn

Then you don't get sleep when they're teens, waiting for them to come home.

Ive got three months left and I am sleeping horribly. I keep waking up early and not being able to fall back to sleep. I guess its preperation for when the baby comes lol.

It is definitly preparation for a newborn! I told DH he needs to be super nice to me right now b/c we have several months to go until I start getting back to normal. He said"but the baby is coming in 2 months" I had to remind him that a newborn is up every couple hours for a little while. Guess he forgot- wow does he have a rude awakening coming to him!
