Oh wow, yeah the ice cream store thing didn't work out for us. The business itself is doing great. But after going down there to scope it out, the owners decided we weren't the right fit to manage it. I think there were three contributing factors: 1) We would need a huge starting salary to cover our mortgage here if we couldn't sell our house, 2) They were looking for people who were 100% enthusiastic about the store, and I just couldn't be all gung-ho when it would mean moving, and 3) their business model focused on homeschool families. We are not a homeschool family, and won't be for another 4 years. It would be very difficult to do my part of the job with having DS running around, plus the fact that we were TTC. They really needed people without kids or with older kids.
So we're here still trying to make ends meet, hoping that DH gets a raise, and that $100,000 drops out of the sky . But someone (who has 8 kids, by the way) gave me the encouragement that "a baby always comes with an extra loaf of bread." I'm confident that God will provide.
