Second baby showers aren't done in my area...my kids are 19 months apart and we didn't have a 2nd shower. We did garage sales and between my parents and I found a double stroller for $15 - dh had to put new wheels on it but that is a minimal price to pay considering the cost of brand new.

Re: the double stroller...Do you really need it? I needed mine to get into church. We go to a Large church and dh works there so he is there hours before me and is not able to help me get in the door. I needed it to get thru the huge parking lot without totally losing my son. Think about how often you will use it vs the cost. I quickly went to using the umbrella stroller and having ds "help" me.

Mags stayed in a "bassinet" type bed for several months so this gave us a little extra time to move Jared into a big boy bed. We went straight to twin beds with both (with one of those rails you get - again from a garage sale) - no toddler bed here.

We had no clue with either one what gender they were. With Jared we didn't want to know and with Maggie it was too early to tell and we weren't going to pay for another ultrasound just for that. She got some clothes from family and wore yellow and green clothes from Jared until garage sale time.

Hope that helps.

Around here, second showers are the norm only if it's multiples or there's a BIG age difference in the children.

I had a second shower (actually two) but that's because they were given for us since we were having twins. One was a friends type one and one for family.

I would not throw myself a shower, just my personal thought.

With regard to the double stroller, I would try a consignment store or check to see if the Multiples Group in your area has a sale once a year or so. My double stroller was invaluable, but we used it for the twins and not with our older son.
