They were at gymnastic class with my daughter and Logan was off playing and he fell. I was working and DH called me. He wasn't sure if he should take him to the ER, Urgent Care, or wherever. So he brought him to me at work. Blood all over. We weren't sure if it went all the way through at first ... but, looking at it now, I think he just hit it inside and then banged it up outside. I talked to our on call nurse through our doctor (of course it was after hours) and I think it will be fine. He is crabby tonight. Just gave us a heart attack ... this little boy just wants to climb EVERYTHING! My daughter was never ever like this.

I know about climbers - I have two of them! Thank goodness it was just a split lip which will heal in no time (being positive here). A girlfriend of mine - her daughter was just over a year and had gotten her two top teeth in. She toppled over, hit the ground and knocked them loose. They had to surgically remove them after they dangled for a week - constantly bleeding. It was more painful for the parents than for the baby. Her loss of two front teeth just add to her darling smile and personality.

Big hugs to you and Logan! DH done good by not freaking out. Of course he had to bring him to your work, but atleast all is well now. A little Tylenol and a bit of ice to bring the swelling down. - or cold ice water in a sippy.

Awww. I'm sorry. It seems like anything on the face just spurts blood and a lot of it. Hope he heals quickly. You probably feel it more than he does...I'm sure the blood was scary to him.

I'm glad he is ok.

Lydia was a climber and a sofa runner. When I wasn't looking, she'd climb on the sofa and run across She fell off the end a few times.

We had a bit more bleeding last night. I was getting ready to take him to the doctor but I'm trying to avoid ER visits right now. I felt awful but he's doing better this morning. He has a fat lip and I have a call out to the doctor trying to figure out how to prevent it from getting infected.

Does anyone have any idea what I can put in there that will help with infection that won't hurt horribly and that I don't have to worry about him not being able to spit out?

It sure hasn't taken the wind out of his climbing sails -- so far he's fallen off the couch and I've had to watch him with the dining room table as that is his current obsession to climb. He just has no fear.

When my oldest was nine months he fell off our bed and busted his lip pretty bad. It swelled up and bled a lot. We did take him to the ER (he was our first, we wouldn't do that with any of the others! LOL) and I honestly don't remember what they said, if anything, we could put on it. Maybe neosporin? He didn't need any stitches and that was the main thing we were worried about. It healed with no problem and I do remember that we didn't put anything on it.

Hopefully your little one will heal quickly!

I just talked to the nurse. There really isn't anything that we can put on it but she said (if anyone else ever has this problem) keep him drinking cold stuff (he's on ice water right now) to help with the swelling and to flush out the cut which will help with the infection.

Sorry to hear about your little one. Usually a split lip is more scary for us, as lips bleed so much. One thing that works really good is to give the child a popsicle. The cold popsicle keeps the swelling down and also slows the bleeding. Depending on how old your child is (over 1yr) you can also use honey as a topical for wounds. It has some antimicrobial properties and is edible.
