Clarasmom07's story is exactly how mine was going to go, but we didn't really have time to find the T-shirt! Still, it was at dd's 1st day party. We were only about 10 weeks along, so it was early for telling people, but everybody was there so it seemed the best time.
I said to my parents and in-laws, "What are you doing February 9th?" Everybody was looking at each other saying things like, "well, how the heck should I know; it's July!" My dad was the only one who got it. He said, "what SHOULD we be doing?"
I said, "well, WE'LL be having a baby sometime around there, so plan accordingly."
The funny part is, the whole weekend, nobody actually said "congratulations". They were all very excited, esp. mil who had been asking us every chance she got if we were pregnant again, or planning on it. And there were all sorts of questions and comments, but no real congrats. Hmm.
My dear, dear nosy mil--about a month before this, the first week I suspected I might be preggers b/c of the nausea and such, was when we were camping with my in-laws. She had talked to me in depth about having another baby, when we thought we would, etc. We really had no plans and didn't want to do it anytime soon, but we took the Catholic approach to birth control, so... Anyway, she was like, "I JUST talked to you about this and you were SO serious about not wanting another one, and you said, 'I can't imagine having a baby right now' and you were pregnant the whole time!" I said, "well, it's a lot easier to imagine having one now that I know I'm pregnant!" It was funny...
