Did the swelling come on suddenly? If so and because it hurts to walk, I agree with your DH that you should at least call your OB. That's what they're there for and they're use to us pregos calling them for any and everything!

I went thru the same thing with both of my boys and, you are right, it is all about being preggo!
My doc told me to elevate my feet above the level of my heart & to use COLD compresses or ice packs. Never use HOT compresses or heating pads b/c the heat stimulates blood flow and increases the swelling.
So, just try to take it easy & "chill" out...literally!

I was very swollen from the time I was about 6 months on. I was like you-hurt to walk or stand or do anything that wasn't me laying down or sitting with my feet proped up. The only shoes I could wear were flip flops and even then if I stood too long the straps dug into my feet! It was kinda nice-dh did all the grocery shopping!

My midwife told me that drinking a ton of water would help and also to try swimming. I didn't have access to a swimming pool so I don't know if it would work or not. Try taking a nice long cool bath.

Being swollen is a part of pregnancy, but if it is really bad it needs to be checked out by your doctor. I would at least call and ask about it. I was monitored towards the end of both my pregnancies because of swelling. (On bed rest the last 3 months with James)

Ugh! I feel ya on the hurts-to-stand part! I'm not very swollen [yet] but my muscles really ache when I stand for a while. Dh thinks it's me being out of shape. But we know. It's those lovely pregnancy hormones. I hope you feel better soon!

I am too and especially because I am carrying twins, my feet are huge. My doctor is not too concerned really because my blood pressure is not a problem also. If both were occuring, it would be worrisome. Instead, it is because my uterus is so large that is blocks blood flow back to my heart.

I elevate my feet as much as possible and the doctor told me to have dh rub my feet, but I hate the additional pressure on them. I drink lots of water, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Instead, I just count down the weeks I have left and hope this is one of the things I "forget" about being pregnant. Good luck!

If the swelling gets too bad you need to have your blood pressure checked. Swelling is common but if it gets too bad it could be associated with high blood pressure. I know you are trying to stay off of your feet but you might also watch your salt intake ( any canned items are also higher in salt content) Hope you feel better soon.
