Does this drive anybody else crazy??
I'm 15 weeks along. I was 130 lbs to start with. I've gained 7-8 lbs and 4-5 inches around my belly. Almost everyone I've talked to in the last week or so has told me I don't look pregnant. I just want to say, "then do I just look FAT, b/c my waist is usually not this disproportioned!"
No woman who knows how her body's changing, knows she's getting bigger, and is extra-sensitive ANYWAY at this point wants to hear that she looks just like she always does when she feels like a cow!! Am I alone in this?
Oh, another fun convo I had w/an aunt:
Aunt: You aren't showing at all!
Me: Um, I've definitely noticed some changes.
Aunt: Well, when I saw you in January, you were really thin.
In My Head: And now I'm just... not thin anymore, but not showing? So... not pregnant-looking, just not thin-looking. Could it be that I'm not thin-looking b/c I'm ... showing? Naw, couldn't be...
Ugh! Sorry, I know this is no big deal, I just needed to vent. Thank you.

Personally speaking, when I was that far along, I thought that I just looked bloated/fat and not pregnant yet. But, people said I hardly looked pregnant all 9 months, and I gained 40 lbs.!! I guess we just know our bodies better than others, or some people just aren't very observant

I think people say that because they want you to know you don't look big aka fat to them. Somehow they might feel it will make you feel better if they think you don't look huge. That would be my guess.

When I was about 8 months pregnant with our first, we were leaving church and I mentioned to our pastor that we were hoping to dedicate our baby in about 2 and 1/2 months (so baby would be about 6 weeks). Pastor was so surprised b/c he thought that I was only 6 months along b/c I carried both babies so odd.
I just always laughed at it.

that's not as bad as being called a "fat mama" from one of the deacons in the church, I punched him of course LOL
when it comes to pregnany, people are STUPID lol
one of my friends is pregnant, and they have a $ bet on how big her nose is gonna get this time around, they are so giving her a complex it is horrible
I must say though, at 15 weeks you are at the "is she pregnant?" or "is she eating too many doughnuts?" stage.... give it a couple of weeks and they'll realize that it is not doughnuts! :-)

I think it's better than being asked when you are due when you're not pregnant.

I agree that they just mean well.
Ten days before ds (child #3) was born, I went to a birthday for a neighbors child. Another neighbor, a 13 year old girl was also there. Ds was 4 days over due, so I was really, really pregnant by them. No doubt about it.
When ds was 6 weeks old, I ran into this neighbor girl again. I had the baby with me and she asked whose baby it was.
I said, "It's my baby. Didn't you notice I was pregnant at Melinda's party?"
Her reply was, "Oh, I thought you just got fat."
Well, gee thanks!
I really hope she has learned a little more tact since then.

I have the opposite issue. I hate it when people tell me that I'm "popping out" or "getting bigger." I'm kind of sensitive to how big I get when I'm pregnant so hearing that just makes me want to punch someone - even if they are well meaning.
As far as those early "is she pregnant/is she not pregnant" days - I always thought that I had a period of time where I just looked like I had put on some weight versus actually looking pregnant so I kind of think the comments are normal - at least from someone who doesn't know you're pregnant. Ironically though, (considering my previously mentioned pet peeve) it's actually somewhat of a relief when I do hit the point when it's unmistakeable that I'm pregnant.
