Ok, so this is totally emberrassing and wayyyy too much TMI! You are now forwarned!
Over the past few weeks I haven't felt like I emptied everything....in the bathroom. I mean I can go to the bathroom so I don't think I"m constipated, but it never seems like its a lot and I still feel like I have more in me shortly after I leave the bathroom. I've tried just waiting, trying not to strain, but nothing happens.
Two nights this week I've woken up with a horrible stomach ache. Last night I had major pain that I couldn't move. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed forever. I was up in the bathroom 4 times and nothing! Finally at 7 I was able to have a tiny bit of diarraha type movement. I felt better and got a little sleep before DD woke up. I still feel crapy (pun intended).
Any relief to a 14 1/2 week pregnant woman?
Sorry about the TMI!

normal for being pregnant
I always added raisens and prunes to my diet when I was pregnant. something with hormones and all that really messes up pooping, and it is a horrible feeling to have to go and cannot
extra water drinking helps, even some sort of juice
maybe talk to your doc about taking a stool softeren, they are over the counter and pretty harmless, although I would ask just to make sure
up your roughage, and try to stay away from highly precessed foods. I know at that stage, you're probably just trying to get anything that tastes relatively good down you

I'm so sorry I can relate! I was constipated my entire pregnancy and I lived on Milk of Magnesia. Yes, I know (!) you are not supposed to have it when you are pregnant. Well, after trying exercise, lots of water, fiber, raisins, prune juice, Everything, well everyone has their limit.
I just used 1/3 of the regular dose and toward the end of the pregnancy, used it every few days I'm not advocating this at all however!!
Things are so "tight" in there, all your organs shoved around, I think it's perfectly natural to feel pressure down there. I will still check with my OB about it though.

I would say up your fiber intake... a lot!
Apples, bananas and know and love fiber rich cereals! Fiber One, Raisen Bran, Mini Wheats, Shredded Wheat - All have a lot of fiber! I'm staring at a box of Frosted Mini-Wheats Big Bite and for 5 of the bars you get 25grams of Fiber! That's pretty good!

I hear ya sista! LOL The water drinking, I believe is best for you as far as not getting empty calories and it hydrates you, but it does NOT help with constipation. I have been drinking water exclusively (except for hot tea in the mornings this past week since I was sick) and it does not help at all.
What helped me was eating prunes, nectarines, loading up more on veggies (I like the frozen so I just pop it in the microwave at work and drinking prune juice. With the prune juice, do not drink a lot.. like a shot glass size every other day or two, otherwise, you will definitely be sitting on the toilet feeling 'crappy'. Eating veggies is good for you because they are complex carbs----low in calories but fill you up. I exercise everyday morning, afternoon and walk in the evenings and it does not help either. Worth a try though.

Drink drink drink more water, Also try to eat more fiber. Even diariha is a form of constipation. I hope this helps but basically if you think you have drank enough water in a day for a preg person than you should prob drink 2 more glasses.

It's one of those frustrations of pregnancy and I hate it! Honestly, I eat a lot of fiber to begin with and have consciously tried to add more, but nothing I do seems to speed things up much if any. It all does eventually work its way out, it just takes a lot longer.

Definitely drink more water! I had trouble with this during my first pregnancy and the doc had to switch me over to a prenatal vitamin that had a stool softener in it. NOt only is your body preggo but then you add the prenatal vitamin that has more iron than your body is used to in it and you get constipated! If you are worried, I would definitely check with your doctor!

These do not constipate you. They are all chocked full of fiber, if anything, it will make it easier to go.
