Hello Ladies,

My name is Daniela, but everybody calls me Dani. I’m a stay-at-home Mom and we have a 5-year old daughter.
We just start to homeschool this year (K4). So far we enjoy it a lot and I hope we’ll be able to continue.
We currently live in Summerville (Charleston area), but are going to relocate to the Greenville area (Easley to be exact) by the end of November.
It would be great if anybody could give me some information about the area.
I’d love to get some recommendations about Churches with kids programs, homschooling support groups, co-op classes, Sports for kids, things to do, play dates, etc.
I really would love to hear from you. Any recommendation is highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Dani-

I lived in Greenville going on ten years ago now, so I'm sure much has changed in the area. Easley was a fast growing town last time I was there. I often traveled through it on my way to Clemson, which I thought was a very pretty and fun college town, and I worked on and off for Dr. Spearman and Dr.Furr in Easley when they needed vet help. Everyone I worked with in Easley was very nice; they were good people.

Anyway- I don't know about the home school situation there, but I can tell you the area is much more conservative than you will be used to coming from Summerville. That may be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. I am Catholic, and Catholics were a very small minority when I lived in the Upstate.

In Greenville there are several neat things for kids- the Greenville Zoo and adjacent parks are nice. The zoo is small enough to be very enjoyable with young kids. The Peace Center has all kinds of programs for adults and kids. There is great bargain shopping there and outlets not too far away in Gaffney. The Greenville library system was excellent, and that may be a place to start looking for homeschool groups in the area. The big main library is maybe 30 minutes from Easley in downtown Greenville.

Not much info for you, but I hope it helps some- good luck with your move!

I recently moved to Chesnee with my family from Massachusetts so I don't know the area that well yet at all but I wanted to thank you. I am new to the board also. Chesnee is in the Spartanburg area ( I guess) so I'm about 45 - 60 Minutes from you depending on where you are located. of course I could be wrong about the time.

Anyway WELCOME!

Dani-

I learned last night from my HS friends that, at least for Catholics, there are two huge homeschooling groups in Greenville that are very active. So that would seem to bode well for other other HS groups in the area... Hope you can find a good one.
