I just wanted to say hello and to share my story and maybe get advice. I am currently a mom to two wonderful boys ages 2 and 10 (well he will be 10 in 2 days). I still work full time outside of the home and I am miserable. I am fortunate that my children have stayed with my sister while I worked (she is a SAHM). My DH and I are now thinking the time has come for me to stay home. We have run the numbers again and again. Credit cards will finally be paid off in July!!!!!!!!!!! I will no longer pay my sister to watch the boys, and I will not be spending around $100.00 in gas driving to and from work. We know that on paper we can do it, and I really want to be there more for the kids and be more involved than we already are-so why am I so scared?
The plan is for me to quit this summer-will we be able to do it?

Welcome! This is a great place to start learning how to live on one income. I quite my full time job in September to stay home with my 3 girls. After being home for 6 months now I am amazed at the money that we are able to save. All (or mostly all) due to the this wonderful site and people who have given me so much advice and tips. Check out our Simple Living Forums many of the women here have transitioned from being a working mother to a Stay At Home Mother and have wonderful ideas and advice. Enjoy!

Welcome to mommysavers! I am in the reverse position as you, although have done what you are considering. I have been a SAHM for 6 years and am now considering going back and looking at how our finances COULD be on paper. It is scary making the descision either way!

If you have figured it out on paper and gone over it, then go for it! Remember, the taxes too! We went down a tax bracket with me not working, so that was a benefit as well!

I am glad you found us! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions if you have any! Jump in where ever you can, and welcome again!!

welcome, u already have a great start. doing the paper work first really helps. I would start living as if u were on one income now and then u could readjust to work a tad longer if need be. also, at some point u just have to take the bullet. It is scary no matter what. Even if u didn't have to worry about money there is still the "can I do this" question in your head. we're all here for support.

Hi and welcome to mommysavers! I'm right in the same boat with you. I have been a working mom all my kids lives and finally we are ready for me to quit.... well it took a while to get my DH's eyes open to it but now we're both on board so I'll be quitting later this year.

One thing we've done is we're living on his paycheck. We're putting mine on our truck payment (our only big debt) and the rest into savings and the expenses we won't have when I'm home (babysitting, gasoline, etc). So, maybe you want to try that with your paycheck pay off the CC debt and put the rest in savings for an emergency fund and live off of your hubby's.

PM me anytime if you want to talk about it.
