I am a working mom of a 3 year old daughter. I love my career but would give almost anything to be able to stay at home with her. My income is a must right now. I have researched working from home options but am very skeptical and don't really know how to determine if they are legitimate. Are any of you working from home? If so, can you give me some advice on good opportunity's or avenue's that I can look at. Any help would be very much appreciated.

First of all welcome to the site. There are some great money saving ideas on here. Second, are you looking into a home based business or just working from home? I own my own home based business and I love it because I get to set my own hours all while making a great income and helping change peoples lives. However, we are not suppose to promote our businesses on this site. If you are interested you can send me a private message (up at the top right of the page) and I can tell you more about it. Good luck with your search!

Hi fellow newbie. I don't know if I am allowed to say this but I have a day home. I have two children ages 17 months and an almost 4 year old and staying at home with them has been increadible. I started watching other children in my home just after my oldest turned one. It has not been a problem to find children her age to watch, and I really do think that she has benefitted from having other children here.

As a Canadian roughly 1/3 of a pay cheque is taken off. Combine that with a professional wardrobe, gas, vehicle wear and tear, lunches, babysitters, after work convenience foods, etc., it does not leave a lot left over. I can't see myself working for a measly $3.00 an hour after all is said and done. Whereas now I get paid to stay at home with my children.

My oldest knows her shapes, colors, number, alphabet, her own phone number, where she lives, has about a dozen words that she prints from memory, and has been practicing the sounds that the letters represent. I could brag about her accomplishments a lot more, but I am happy to say that she is a bright, happy girl who is a joy to be around. She has not picked up many bad habits as I am around to supervise what is being said and done in my house.

That is my soap box stand for the day. Best of luck to you in your search.

I also have a home based business that I would love to talk to you about but it will also have to be through private message. It may be the same as the other one.

A few of our moms do a wah business called work at home agent. Its answering phones for mailing companies. I believe Ember does this, and she can give you more info. She really enjoys it and makes a pretty good living doing this.

I too, looked into a lot of work at home options. Nothing really worked until I found something that I could truely be passionate about. Now I have a successful home business that I created and I love doing. You kind of have to explore many options until you find what's right for you. While one person can sit and transcribe for 3 straight hours and love it; it just isn't right for the next person. You will only be successful if it's something you can enjoy doing. At the same time, if you have a desire for something - you have the ability to do it, you just need to tap into it. Most of the time the hardest thing is to just find out what you have a desire for.

I am a working mom too. I know it's hard. I have 2 daughters who are 2 and 4 and they are growing so fast that I want to stay home. Later this year I am going to quit my job so I am in the boat with you trying to find something to supplement the income a little. Haven't found anything yet but I do know when both of my kids are in school I want to try to get a teachers aide job so I'm there when they are and home in the summer.

Good luck to you and welcome to Mommysavers!!!
