Hi everyone! Newbie here in TX, where we would literally DIE without AC in the summers (about 10 months out of the year)!! I hope it's ok that I joined here, I have no children yet, but have been enjoying reading all of your money saving tips/tricks, etc....couldn't resist joining. My dh (someone explain what dh, dd, and ds mean please) and I married almost one year ago (july 22nd) and own a home in southeast Texas. We have two dogs and a cat, and have been discussing children, so that will be coming up within the next year or two. I would like to hear anyone's advice on parenting that you all have learned, specifically, how you feel about "grandma" spoiling grandkids to the point that they are complete terrors at home. I need to know how to avoid that when it comes my time to send my kids over. Any help will do. Anyway, this has been longer than I wanted, but I am glad to be here....hope to get to know all of you soon!

How funny what a small world it is. I was in New Braunfels a few weeks ago at the river, and it was already scorching there. However, I am from the Beaumont area (specifically Bridge City, if you know where that is) and we are right on the water; therefore, it's always hot and mosquito-y! Just Monday, was out on a softball field and when I got to Center field, it was just like being in a swamp...muddy and full of mosquitos...since it's rained so much here as well. My yard is just now drying up. Anyway, thanks for the welcomes guys, and I hope to learn tons from all of you! Maybe I'll be "prepared" why my chance for kiddos does come along!
