What is a good site to find an avatar that is free AND safe?

I'm not sure of the "cool" sites but I tend to use personal pictures or just download pictures of things I like. I used google.com to find a red maple leaf. To me it represents the fact I am Canadian and because it's almost fall (my favorite season). So you can try doing that, or maybe someone else can post and give you some ideas!!!

If they allowed 100x100 pixels on here there are millions readily available on Livejournal and tons of other sites like it. 100x100 is the standard on those kinds of sites.

I must be doing something wrong. I have tried links to pictures as well as saving pictures to my computer and I keep getting a message that says File Upload Failed.
