I saw today when I was at Kmart that they are offering 20% off select products and groceries to those who are unemployed and live in Michigan.

I think it's a great idea and maybe in the future they will offer this to more states than just Michigan.

I have mixed feelings about this. The unemployed normally qualify for state assistance programs like food stamps and medicaid. There are millions of people out there that are underemployed or have had to take huge pay cuts just to keep their jobs. These are the people that are slipping through the cracks. They don't qualify for food stamps or medicaid yet struggle week to week just to keep the electric on and food in their family's belly.
