I was at target yesterday and valentine stuff was 90% off!
Not much left.
I got some very nice placemats for 19 cents each.

Navy Exchange markdowns
Most items end in .99. A few will end in .00 such as the expensive perfume, B&BW items, etc.
For most items:
If and item ends in .97 it's the first markdown taken for that item.
If it is .96 it's the final markdown. (an item ending in .96 can NOT be put on layaway).
In my experience as a patron and employee the Nex doesn't like to mark down their hardline stuff (Electronics, linens,H&B, hardware, toys, and L&G) as much as they do the softline (clothing, shoes, handbags (which of course exclude Coach and D&B)).
They will take an inital markdown on an item and do large sales you'll see in the add saying "All .96 and .97 clothing an extra __% off". Most additional discounts are saved for the Tent Sales. That's when you'll see the big white ten out in the parking lot and all departments put stuff there they need to get rid off. Tword the end of each clothing season they will do more "addition off's" as it gets closer to the new clothing season. The % off's start small and get larger as it gets closer, with the largest usually being during the tent sales.

Also, the sticker on the shelf that the store put on with the price, if there is a (D) in front of the description that item is deleted and once it's gone it's gone. Even if it takes a year to get rid of it, which sometimes it has!

Coach note: It is marked down once a year and that is black friday!!! The deleted items will be put in the clearance section, but it's not that much off the NEX reg price.

Babies R Us receives their markdowns on Sun, but they don't have to be finished until the start of business of Thursday, so Thursday is the better day to shop. This is also when the unadvertised sales go into effect (things like an additional percentage off clearance).

I am not familiar with Navy Exchange. Is this an online or brick and mortar store, or both? If it is online, what is the website address?
Thanks for all the info from this thread. Very helpful and saved me $33.60 last week.

My friend told me that Monday morning is when she buys all her organic items at Meijers. She said that is when that, and other items are on clearance. I meant to go there this coming up Monday, but I spent a lot at the grocery store today. I went crazy on fruit. A lot was on sale.

The Navy Exchange is a store for military and dependents. You must have a valid ID to shop there. You can view the ad online at www.navy-nex.com. You'll have to get past the firewall using a name and password. If you've never gone to the website before you'll use your last name and last 4 or 5 digits of social. After that you can make a custom one. You can also sign up for the ad to be sent to your home, which I recommend, because that's how you get the scratch off card when they do the promotion. (Please note, the odds are highly likely that all you will get off is 5%, as all cards are distributed randomly worldwide.).

Some items at the exchange are sold in the catalog/online store, and some items are only in the catalog/online. It's not like how walmart or target are online. It's sorta a seperate store that shares tax free, ability to use Star Card, etc...Generally if it's a type of specific item (outdoor heaters for example) that most customers aren't shopping for they'll carry it online/catalog so the stores aren't wasting floor space on an item that isn't selling. Best thing to do is talk to someone who works that department and see if they have it.
