Sweet! Great job!
I don't have any grand success stories yet. I'm trying to buy less and less pre-made, boxed foods, and make everything from scratch. I know that in the end that is the way to save the most money (as well as be healthier), but it seems it's more expensive in the beginning to stock up on all the spices and herbs and other pantry items. I CAN'T WAIT to get a big freezer so I can buy all that meat on sale and make and freeze meals ahead of time and such. Right now I just get all excited if I'm spending less than $70/week (and it's just me and DH and the baby).
Another thing is I find the "total saved" amount on the receipt to be deceiving when I shop at multiple stores. For example, I judge everything by Walmart prices, and compare everyone else's sale prices to theirs. I can get a certain box of cereal for $2.49 at Walmart, and the same one at Shaw's for $3.25. But if Shaw's is having a sale on cereal for .50 off, and I have another coupon for .50 off, then I can get that box of cereal for $2.25 at Shaw's, but I'm only saving $.24 total, even if on the receipt it says I saved $1.00.
But I'm doing that grocery game 4 week trial right now. Pretty sweet system, that is! It makes me want to go and buy everything that's on sale even though I don't really need it!
