My recent story is that we bought new patio furniture at Sears for $599. I saved and saved for this then paid my husband cash to put on the credit card and boy was I happy we did it that way! This week it was in the sale ad for $499 and I called Sears and they refunded me the $100 to my card over the phone just like that! I was so happy I did not have to drive all the way out there and waste gas!

They should be effective reguardless of what time of year it is.

best buy won't take a competitor's price if they are an online store....i got around this with a GPS that I bought online from Walmart....but used the "ship to store" option....i guess i argued a good point, so they gave it to me.

Sears does this too. One store told me that they don't do it on clearance items, but the one closer to my house always does..whenever I got back, I bring my last receipt and ask them to check it. I didn't realize so many of those other stores did..thanks for the info.

I bought my daughter a swimming pool from walmart for $60 on saturday. On Sunday, my local Big Lots had the same pool on sale for $30. So I took the big lots ad and my wal mart receipt to walmart and asked for a price match. They refused, so I returned the pool to walmart and went to big lots and saved 30 dollars! I thought walmart was really stupid for not price matching. They lost 60 dollars instead of just 30.

I thought it was stupid too, but their argument was that I couldn't prove it was the same pool. Even though I had the big lots ad...with the picture..and could have gone back to the pool section at walmart and showed them but they weren't that interested.

I agree that it is very important to check sales flyers for new sales and most stores will do a price adjustment after 14 days two weeks.

Price adjustments are designed just in case that does happen where something does go on sale the next the week. However unless you don't live far from that store or the price it's on sale is not that big of a difference it's not worth the trip with gas always changing. Also annoying customer service may get you what you want but the manner in which you go about it is best with kindness. There more like to possible adjust an item for you if your nice about. If your mean and nasty there's a good chance they'll send you packing. So be nice
to those people behind the counter because they want help you if they can but there not in charge of rules in which they have to follow. An one more thing remember these stores you shop at still have to turn a profit to keep passing the good savings and sales on to you.
