Does anyone know of a place to find a great deal on a jewelry box?? My 17 yr old niece has asked for one for Christmas and the one's I'm finding are over our $10-15 limit. I really want to get her a nice one and not one that will fall apart.

Sorry, but even the jewelry boxes I see in the $40-50 range are junk as far as I'm concerned. You certainly will NOT find one in your price range unless it's a small "jewelry-specific" box, like a small case just for rings, or a little travel case. The biggest selection I ever see is at JC Penney - usually around Mother's day.

What sort of box is she wanting? I saw some cute ones at Kolhs when I was there last week. But they were smallish, I would say big enough for a older child, or young teen.

I have a Walmart jewelry box that my mother probably bought for $15-20. I've had it for 10 years and it still looks new. I don't think you need to spend a fortune on a jewelry box. If I had thousands of dollars of jewelry I might worry about a pricey jewelry box. You should be able to find something nice in your price range. I bought my daughter a ballerina jewelry box from kidsurplus.com but you probably want to get something from the store this late. My daughter's jewelry box was around $15 and is durable enough for a 4 year old. She has had it for almost a year. Target had some cute jewelry boxes. I saw them when I was looking for a Hello Kitty necklace.

Thanks for the help ladies, but I actually found one by chance at a scratch & dent surplus store for $15.00 and it is really nice. I've seen the like at Wal-mart for around $30, so I think I got a good deal. Now I can get her some jewerly to go in the box

Glad you found one. I was about to post about the ones in the sales circular for Kmart as well. Bombay company is going out of business & I stopped in there & they had a lot on clearance too.
