Ugh I was SO mad last night!!

WEnt to Walmart, needed a new tote to put Cam's new GeoTrax in. I took Samantha with me because she wanted to spend her $30 in GC that she got. She picked a Vsmile game for her Pocket, a Virtual LPS, and a LPS figure for her Twirl around playground that she got too. On the way to the registers an announcement was made: "Attention WAlmart Shoppers, we apologize for the inconvience, but we are not accepting gift cards at this time. AGain, we can not accept gift cards, sorry for the inconvience."

I had a sobbing 6 year old in the line with me cuz we had to hand all her stuff back to the cashier, who apologized profusely. It was't HER fault, but it still stunk and i let her know it. Can you imagine the amount of people that were redeeming gcs yesterday? Come to find out, I guess it was a national thing. ALL the Walmarts had a problem with thier 'main computer' and they couldn't accept any gift cards. What a gyp!!!

I wouldn't doubt if it was't some sort of conspiracy. LOL

DH just got back from Walmart. Wanted to cash IN his GC, and the assist. mngr. wouldn't LET HIM!! Even with the receipt in hand!! I told him to just buy something small and get the rest back in cash, but he was told he couldn't do that EITHER!! What a rip!! He's not happy with Walmart right at this moment...

Thats what they told me, they can't accept them at ALL. There is some sort of glitch in the computer and even though it may 'appear' to be accepted, it may not be, and it won't show up making the cashiers drawer look like a deficit. But Good GOD, its the day after Christmas and everyone wants to use thier GCs!!! They can't come up with SOMETHING to do to fix this problem?? Samantha had 2 for $15 each, and the people that gave them to her wrote the amounts right on the card. Why can't they do something?

I can understand why they would not trade them for cash. That kind of defeats the whole intent of a gift card!!! He should be able to find something he wants at WalMart!! They have everything

Yes this happens somewhere every year when their is GC overload.

It was Happening in New York and Company last Yr on 12/26 and I saw it was Happening in a Bath and body works that same day.

I felt so bad for the Employees.

Everyone was Mad and taking it out on them.

I agree it does Suck ...
but I had my Debit card Denied at the Grocery store the other Day( 12/24) -They were having Major Problems with their CC machine , and the computers weren't recognizing alot of numbers
Alot of people were mad that time too... But its Computers , they are great when they work , Horrible when they don't

Well, yes. Unfortunately they DO have everything!! And sure, there are a hundred things I could have had him spend it on...but that's not the point. It's MY MONEY on the darn thing. I should be able to get it BACK if I want it. I've done that a million times in the past. Buy something small, and get the rest back in cash. (Go put gas in my car or something! ) It was actually a GC I got for DD to give to her Daddy - for a fishing pole, so that they would then both have one in order to go fishing together. Just turned out that we needed the money more than the fishing pole.

But, that must be a new policy or something. I'd never heard of them denying someone at least the DIFFERENCE if you bought SOMETHING with a GC!! It's like once you give Walmart your money, you're stuck. Gotta spend it there, or eat it. That's not right.
