My almost 13 Y.O. DD wants a new bed (and needs one!) Where do you find a decent quality, reasonably priced bed? I have looked at Roomstogokids.com, and potterybarnkids.com bt both appear a bit expensive. Maybe that is what it will cost, ??????? I don't know. I have been to BigLots, and Badcock as well as a few local places. Not many to choose from. She prefers white...
HELP!!??!!!!!!
Thanks ladie s!!

Check out places like Slumberland Outlet stores.

You could also check the classifieds, and craigslist for a nice used one.

I'm in the same boat. I've been searching for a cute, reasonably priced bed for my DD for about a year now. My problem is I also want certain furniture pieces to match it and I can't find a deal on the complete set.

If it is ONLY a bed you desire, I highly recommend you check out the unfinished wood furniture stores. You can pay them a little extra to have them finish the furniture the way you want and there is lots to chose from. Many places will even mix and match parts of the bed to give you exactly the look you want. And best of all, you know you're getting a real wood piece, not something made out of flimsy press board.

PLEASE stay away from metal beds, especially ones made with tubing. Metal tends to shear with means when a piece breaks, it will break suddenly and the broken part can be very sharp and dangerous. My DD has been lobbying for a bunkbed and, in the style she wants, metal tube frames are the easiest to find but I absolutely refuse to go in that direction.

If you have an IKEA near you, they have very reasonable solid wood furniture for bedrooms in a few different finishes and even just plain pine for many, that is easily painted or stained.

Something else that is even cheaper is to just get the metal bed frame for the box spring and mattress and make a fabric covered headboard to match her room.

Here are directions for a really simple one:

There are TONS of ideas online...

Good luck finding what you need!

I was just checking the Kmart ad for this week (this one is good thru tomorrow) and I found a pine headboard on sale for $49. She could help you sand & paint it white (you would need very little paint) and you could just put the bed on a metal frame with a pretty bedskirt to hide the bottom of the bed. It would be a fun project to do together - and you probably could do it for under $75, including paint

I went to Atlanta today... 2 hours...to hit RTG Kids and Value City. Well The Value City had no beds, but they are going out of business. RTG kids was pricey. Hit several othe places too, same problem as before. Big bucks or really cheap junk. Where is the inbetween stuff? I like the headboard that someone posted, but I am craft or tool or both impaired.....
Thanks girls, I'll keep trying!

We recently bought a bed on Craigslist or our daughter. It was like new, very nice quality for $100. The owners said they bought it and then decided on another style... go figure. I wish I had the money to be that picky!!
