Check your local Staples store's clearance rack. Not the one that they put on display in the front of the store; the other one (which, at the local Staples, is in the back. I shopped at Staples for years before happening to come across it). I checked the clearance today and it was full of post-it notes, paper clips, 2-pocket folders, dividers, file folders, accordian files, and more. This is just my guess, but I think they put office supplies on clearance when they change the color of the supplies seasonally. For example, last fall I got a set of dark pink, green, and purple paper clips, which were new and still in their packages. I think Staples got rid of these to make room for a different color of paper clips, perhaps more "wintery" colors.

My Staples' clearance rack often gives no indication of how much an item costs. The items only show their original price. I just take the items up to the cash register when I'm ready to check out, and ask that they check the prices before ringing things up. If something isn't deeply discounted enough, I just set it aside.
