Target has a 6 pk of elmers glue sticks for $1. That is about $0.17 a piece and the best price I have seen so far. Do ya think that office depot or stapels will put them out for $0.01?

On Saturday I was at Walmart and their two-packs were $.22 - only $.11 each!

This one floored me. I went to Walmart with my son (hate Walmart usually, but they had great prices on school supplies). I got the minimum supplies we needed (for the school list, plus homework supplies) and then other things. When we went to the register, we put up the "minimum"...It was about 4 bags full. Watching the budget, I looked at where we were at on the register. With only the necessities, we escaped with...paying $20!!!!!! I was thrilled!

Of course, then came the optional stuff - the stuff that could have waited a bit and the stuff to keep diva busy, too - she just loves to color and draw. But I have to say: Walmart did well this year. 22cent crayons, 70 page notebooks for 5cents apiece. People were buying boxes of 24 at a time. I snagged only one box but may go back. People were putting like 5 boxes in their cart at a time, which I didn't think was right, but oh well. Maybe they have 5 kids.

I asked the lady who was re-stocking the school supplies this same question. She said that they had literally TONS of crayons and notebooks and for me to buy as many as I wanted. That people were buying cases of notebooks for just over a dollar.

Backpacks for $3.99 at HyVee (this is a grocery store based in Iowa, but they have expanded to other States now also). The quality seems to be really good.

Of course, we had already purchased a backpack for our pre-schooler because he has already started (year round), but I went ahead and picked a couple of them up.

HyVee has the store policy that if something does not ring up the price that was posted on the shelf then you get the item free. I bought two backpacks, one of them rung up $9.99 instead of the posted price of $3.99, so I got that one for free. Basically, I got two back packs for $3.99.
