I sell drawings, some commissioned, some prints, some on other items like mugs etc, and while I'm not rolling in the dough, I do ok for an extra income (I also work full time) If I vested more time into promoting it I could possibly do it on a full time basis and quit my 40hr week job, but for now it's going more on word of mouth because I need the security of my regular job at the moment and haven't really made the time to set up website, showcase at different places, etc.
But it is possible to make money selling crafts if what you are trying to sell is marketable and in demand. If it's something easily made by anyone or something that every one is also trying to make money selling? Than you have to be careful about the time and money you are investing in trying to sell them because you may not come out ahead.
