DH wants to start a side business. He loves sports and likes helping others. I've told him to be a coach for flag football and/or for the kids. He wants more.

Any ideas to share? He's hitting me out of left field w/ideas, and I hate being the realistic damper on his ideas, but I do have to rein him in. He does come up w/good ones, but the "Ah-Ha" one hasn't hit yet.

What about openng a gym or specalized training facility? This would be more full time not a side business. A friend of ours did this for cheerleading, and part of the facility had pitching machines. Or he could be a private coach and charge by the hour for a training session.

Unfortunately, we live in an area awash with these, and many are closing down in this economy, including simple yoga studios. The Y has eaten them up! The Cardinals offer workshops that do a lot of this, too. He's looked into working w/them, but they really use people who have been players or affiliated in some way.

Keep 'em coming, though!

what about beimng a fundraisng cord for sports teams? Help them raise funds. They could sell stuff sports related and your DH would be the wholesaler.

I have to check, but one of the sites I use to buy gifts for my bus., I think sells spots stuff at wholesale. I will look.

Has he considered becoming a certified personal trainer?

Hmmmm...I'll run that by him because it can be done part time and Lord knows, he has the connections there from his Marketing/Training background.

Unfortunately, a lot of the PTs in our area have had to look for jobs because that's one of the things too many people have dropped. He is looking into doing something at the Y or coaching more for the fun/fulfillment because it's certainly not going to support a family! (Shhh..in truth, he still trains like they did in the 70s, no matter what I tell him...the wife never gives good advice when it comes to a man's exercise. He thought my old aerobics/weight lifting were sissy...until I challenged him to try it. He pooped out way too early and gave up after the third session...Oh, and was he sore!)
