I went to a Mary Kay party tonight. I've heard several people mention Avon on here but what about Mary Kay? How are they to sell for?

I used to sell Mary Kay for many years. I thought I loved it but when I started moving up in the company I realized it was all about getting people to buy huge amounts of inventory. I just could not justify having people that really needed the money sink money into a business that if they failed they were stuck. They do reimburse you 90% of your money back on unused product, not samples and section 2 items and you also loss on your sales tax you paid. I've been out of Mary Kay for 3 years and I still have product.
I currently do have a home based business that I love and I did not need to invest a lot of money with. I made my money back plus some at my first party and have continued to make money. It has really changed my families lives.
I hope you hear my heart on this. If you want a home based business PLEASE research them and find one you will love that will not cost you and your family a fortune.

Good Luck and Blessings,
Crystal

I sell Mary Kay and love it.
I love the products, so I get 50% off everything that I buy.
In order to stay in MK, you just need to place a $200 order every YEAR. (this does not keep you "active," but you can still get the discount. Some people just do it for personal use and the requirement is a $200 order a year.

I work my business mostly from my home. It is hard for me to get out and do things with a 1 year old and 2 year old. I have over 50 loyal customers who reorder from me all the time because they love the products. I would say I make about $200 a month, and that is not doing much at all. You do have to WORK if you want to be successful with it.
However, back in February I did something called 24/24/24 and sold $24 to 24customers in 24 hours.. I sold almost $1000 in ONE DAY.. which means I made $500 that day. I am going to do that again this month because we need money!! The cool thing is it is YOUR business.. so you can do with it what you want! The more you do, the more successful you are!

I also currently have 3 active recruits right now. When they place an order, I get 4% commission off of their order from the company. Even $20 is better than nothing.
I would like to do more with it, but right now it's hard.
Someone mentioned about people having to get inventory. That is not something you have to do, and I do NOT pressure or recommend my recruits doing that until they build up their business and they have the extra money.
I know I would make more money if they did, BUT that's not the important thing. I want them to be happy and successful, and if they are not happy then they will drop out and it ends up hurting me in the longrun.

If anyone is interested in hearing more about the business, feel free to take a look at my website:
There are testimonials to watch (I believe).
You can also send me a personal message and I will be happy to discuss more with you.
I am honest and straightforward with everyone.. I am not one of those "pushy" Mary Kay women.. a lot of them are!!!!
Thanks for asking about MK.. and if you haven't tried the products lately, you should. Timewise and the mineral products are incredible.

Thanks!
Amy

I tried selling Mary Kay for about a year and I never made any money off of it, but that is not to say you can't make money, I just personally couldn't find people willing to spend that much money on makeup and/or skincare products. The only thing I have to disagree with is, where I was signed up I had to make a $200 order every three months to stay active and get the discount. THe bad part was if you were not considered active you had to purchase $200 to get the 50% discount. well the problem i was running into was I wouldn't have enough stuff to order and I would always end up putting my own personal money in so I could get the discount and actually try to make money off of it. My experience with Mary Kay was not great, but I do believe there are people out there who can be very successful with it. I just didn't happen to be that person
