Hello Everyone first time on,

I am wanting to start my in home child care and the idea is to have 3 to 4 toddlers want to be very active.Have a full schedule from 9 til 4. Such as once a week going to dance, library, park etc. i want to teach like they were going to school, but not for it to be to much for their age i would do photos once every 6months for the parents and want to have a piggy bank so could take the children shopping once a month or so (the idea is to teach giving and sharing). Every time i think about all i could do i get so excited but have not sold my husband on it yet. I .was wanting to put an add out the first of next year and see what kind of bites iget off of it. My daughter is 21 months and have been looking for childcare for her and have not found what i'm looking for I went to the class to get registered w/ the state of Texas last year and both of us were not on the same page so decided to wait. I am now a manager of a Dental Office and am seeing what all it would take and know that I could do it and have a great time doing it. To those of you that have been going it is this realistic or just a dream?

I did it in the early 1990's, and it sounds realistic for the most part. I never took the kids out in my vehicle though, you'd have to have car seats for each child, and there are liability concerns. Will your activities require transportation?

Liability insurance is definitely a good idea. Many states also have food programs that will pay for your own kids' meals as well as the kids in your care, at least they did in Nebraska back when I was doing it. You must be a registered or licensed daycare to qualify for such programs, check your state requirements & offerings.
