What advice would you give them?

Lets say she isn't interested in direct sales or parties or anything like that. She just wants a way to make some money, and is feeling impatient about it. What sort of advice would you give?

Well I would ask what kind of talents she had? Crafts, food making skills or if she liked kids. That would be a start..

I know a few yrs back a friend of mine was a at home dispatcher for a towing company. She got to stay home, run errands if she had too and just had the phone forwarded to her cell.

I agree. If she is going be any good at it, it needs to suit her personality AND be a passion.

I couldn't do direct sales because I don't have the sales personality. (I wish I did but it would exhaust me). I'm too introverted to run parties and such. For me writing, doing computer stuff and working as a research assistant is the perfect fit for now .. although I do sometimes find I don't get enough social interaction .. which is why I come here on my breaks.

My mom made about $400/wk, babysitting while she stayed at home with my brother. If I had the patience, I would do it. This was keeping 4 kids plus my brother. She also became state registered, and had part of her grocery bill refunded!

If you need to start a business quick, providing a service is going to be less $ than sales to start up, and more likely to provide an income quicker. Child care is always in high demand, and it's usually not that hard to become registered or licensed. You must love children though, and be willing to open up your house to others. I can't stress enough the need for liability insurance for such undertakings though. It's easy not to protect yourself when you are desperate to build an income.

I would also ask what her interests are and then see if she could incorporate that into some kind of business running a website. A friend of mine has worked from home for the last 8 years by running websites and selling online stuff. I have also heard that people can make a lot of money by selling stuff on ebay if you are passionate enough about it.
