As I just received my last paycheck as a school counselor-the reality of being a SAHM is setting in! We can make it fine on my husbands salary but I am still concerned about our ability to cut out many of the luxuries we are used to! So I have been looking into stuff I can do at home-maybe in the evenings after my husband comes in. Online tutoring seems great especially since I have a bachelor's and master's in the field of education. I was wondering if any of you have experience with online tutoring companies-what was it like, was it enjoyable, how was the pay, etc. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!

I currently work for an online tutoring company. I have been doing it since January. I enjoy it, but it doesn't pay very much and the hours are inconsistent. I am doing it so I stay in teaching and I hope to eventually get a promotion to the higher level positions. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I currently work for tutor.com. They are a great site, but yes the hours are limited. It is especially hard to get hours during the holidays and summer, but that is to be expected. You can do what is called floating, if you are not on the schedule and during peak hours you can pick up some extra hours. You can usually preschedule 10-12 hours each week and the pay is about $9-$12/ hour depending on how long you have been with the company and what your ratings are. Typically you can expect to work about 20-25 hours a week if you are persistent, sometimes more. I really love it though and it lets me stay home with my kids.
