Hello!

I will be teaching my first online college class in the spring. Would anyone know of any resources for lesson planning or suggestions? I am also interested in finding out what has worked for you - discussion groups, just setting up assignments?

Thanks!

Missy

I think discussion boards are important -- it makes students stay engaged in the class every week.

Weekly quizzes can be helpful in making sure students are keeping up with the reading.

Are you developing the course from scratch? What kind of distance learning platform are you using?

I am currently using eCollege and have used Blackboard for my hybrid classes.

What subjects do you teach?

I teach Criminal Justice, Sociology, Organizational Leadership, and Political Science.

I understand that Criminal Justice is a great field to be in right now. I teach business and accounting. The online course is Federal Taxation. Do you teach full time? I am adjunct right now.

I used to use Bb for my online Psych 101 classes. Now I am taking a break with my DD. Make announcements very clear and be very specific reg. everything. And post stuff as early as possible.

mommycounter -

I just saw your question -- sorry for the delayed response.

I'm adjunct -- I teach two classes on ground and four online per year.

How often do you teach?

Wow this sounds cool.

Do you have to be a licenced teacher to be able to do this type of work?

For my particular position, there is no license required.
