If it's against the rules to post on here about it, you can pm me. I have a few questions.

A friend at church started selling it and talked to me about it. From what she said, it sounded great (and actually DH had mentioned it a couple years ago as an option for extra cash flow, but I never pursued it). But I did some surfing about it and found I have some questions:

What are the real fees involved? Are there fees for your customers returning things? What is the cost of the website (my friend talked as though it was free, but I doubt it!) How much is catalogs/paperwork?

Basically, what is it going to run me to do this? I don't have the ability to deliver someone's $10 order a half hour away if I'm only going to make a few bucks on it -- I'd be losing money on gas alone! I live in the boondocks, my husband works with a bunch of single college guys (read: no wives to bring books home to!), and the only circle of people I have outside of our 12-person church congregation is my MOPS group, so that might be a dead end real quick!

DH and I have decided to start the process of adopting, and I need to find ways to come up with some extra cash for all the fees! If Avon is a real option, I'm willing to go for it. But if it's going to cause me headache and only have me break even or make $10 a month, it isn't worth me doing it!

Look for the yahoo group kickstartyouravon and sign up for it. You don't have to be selling avon to join. Ask whatever you want, and it will be answered.
To start up you will have to pay 10 dollars. I have heard it is 20 in some areas. It is against the rules to give someone a free kit, but I have heard some people who are desperate to get a downline do it. You don't have to have a downline, but you do make a lot more money that way. In your first kit, you will get some samples, a bag, and 10 books each of the next 2 campaigns. I actually got in free, because there was a deal going on that if I signed up I got 60 dollars in free avon stuff to start. It costs about 6 dollars for 10 books, but the more you buy, the cheaper they are.
I would probably be doin great by now if I stuck with it, but my car broke, and I moved a little further way from my customers, and I moved to a much smaller house. Avon was taking over. I ended up getting a lot of customers from church, and they still ask me about avon, I keep telling them they can order online.
As for the website, no, it is not free. There was a deal going on that you were credited for your fee if someone actually ordered from your website, I don't know if that is still going on. I think the website is way overpriced, especially when you are first starting out, and don't have many customers yet. You can still have your customers order online, even if you don't have a website, they can put your phone number in, but they only have the option of you delivering to them, they can't have avon ship it to them.

I also wanted to add that you are to charge your customers a .75 cent fee. Half of that goes to you, the other half to avon. A lot of avon ladies cover the fee, if the customer will pick up their order. If you start off that way, it is easier to keep up with it. Plus, never give an order to ANYONE unless they pay for it first. With avon, people usually pay for their order when it comes in. But it is your business, so you can run it how you want. So start out having people pay you first, so you never have to chase money. Start a seperate checking account for your avon purchases, and never spend that money, until you have paid your avon bill.

I sold avon for about two years. It wasn't worth the money I had to put into it. Especially, all of the deliveries. I am much happier doing what I do now! I don't have to worry about inventories or deliveries. No wasted gas!
