I will be making some apple sauce/cinnamon ornaments that you use equal parts of both ingredients. Most of the recipes says to let it dry for 24-48 until they dry out. I saw one recipe that said you could put it in the oven to dry out. Does anyone know this way to do it? Anyone familiar with the recipe and ornaments?

We made these a couple of years ago and I think we just let them air dry. I think if you use the oven you want to turn it on pretty low - around 150-200. Maybe even heat it up and then turn it off with the ornaments in there. Be sure to use applesauce with sugar in it. I always buy the 'natural' kind that is just apples and water to eat but you need the sugar in the applesauce to help them stay together. Our were too dry and crumbly without it and many broke very easily. Good luck!

I made some a couple of months ago using 3/4 cup applesauce and an almost 4 oz bottle of cinnamon (.50 at walmart). I just let them airdry for a few days and turned them over daily, they smell so good while drying

After you mix the applesauce and cinnamon, roll out the dough and cut with cookie cutters and poke a hole near the top if you want to be able to put a string through to hang.

This sounds like a great idea for items to put in a chirstmas basket. I planned on doing baskets for coworkers and this would be a great addition!

Just a tip, if you let them air dry do NOT put them on a nice table! I did this years ago and I even put them on wax paper and then on our dining room table (mahogany). They took the finish off the dining room table and like I said I had put them on wax paper first! So be careful where you dry them!!!

We made ours tonight. The dough was sticky. I used alot of cinnamon so it wouldn't stick. I have mine on a cookie sheet.

Where should I leave them to dry? In the cool basement or where there would be more heat?

And they are suppose to be brown?
