How I did mine ~ I printed letters that I liked out of Microsoft word (then you can choose whatever font you want), and then cut them out of the fabric. I did sew mine on with my machine using a really close zig zag stitch. You can, however, use a iron on type material such as wonder under, or some other fusible interfacing. IMO I find that the letters don't stay on very well on after lots of washings with the iron on only, and sometimes (depending on the interfacing you choose) the letters can feel stiff. If you don't have a sewing machine - you can use the iron on stuff and then so a simple stitch by hand around the border to help hold it on. I have done this also.
