I made this for my sister for her birthday. Her dh is a HUGE Tennessee fan, but she's a big UK basketball fan... I wouldn't dare wear the hat, but she would. She can pull off wearing hats pretty well and is the type of person that doesn't really care as long as it keeps her warm. The letters I bought pre-made and sewed them on. I couldn't find any UK patches ANYWHERE to put on it...so I figured the letters would have to do.

I wish I could too!!

Her birthday isn't until the 19th...I hope I can wait that long to give it to her. If I have something and I'm excited about giving it, I have a hard time waiting!!

I simply cut the scarf 8 inches wide and to be honest, I didn't measure the length. Then I sewed the two pieces together down each side stopping 3" short of the end. Then I cut the fringe and tied it together.

The hat...which is adult sized, so you might have to tweak it a bit for kids... I cut 4 6" strips of fleece about 10" long...sewed those together stopping about 2.5" short of the end and hemmed the end that will go down toward the face. Then the other end, I just tied a narrow strip of fleece around it tightly to gather it and cut the fringe after it was tied. It would be easier to cut it before it's tied! You can also hand stitch around it and pull it tight like a drawstring. It was pretty easy!
