Do you use blinds (if so what kind), or curtains or both?

My kids have roller blinds (I prefer them over mini-blinds due to NO string). I will also have curtains up (One white for the back and a slightly higher rod with a pretty color. Is that TOO much for a window?

I am VERY new to decorating.

Have you checked out the cordless mini blinds? They are very nice and not expensive. On the windows, I have a sheer panel for privacy, nice decorative curtains and mini blinds in most rooms.
