Do you have any to share, so we can learn (or laugh at) your mistakes?

Here's what I learned today: Potted plants should not be kept on the banister on top of the stairs. For the record, I did not put it there, and I did not knock it off.

When dh and I got married we hired a cleaning company to come in and clean the house. Because we had the reception at the house and also had about 30 out of town guest.

Well a lot of good that did.

It rain from Thursday till Sunday (the wedding was Saturday), the place was trashed from wet shoes and people going in and out in less than 30 minutes

Also it seems like every time I do spring or fall cleaning, dh decides to do a major remodeling project and I have to redo my heavy cleaning.

Oh, dh decided to run the dishwasher and put dawn for regular dishes in the dishwasher.....DOES NOT WORK

When you have a cat with irritable bowel syndrome zooming through the house at top speed while having explosive diarrhea, and you've tracked and marked where all the little bits of poop have landed on walls, shoe moldings, etc., and it has dried to the walls, do NOT clean it with any sort of spray that will "soften" the poop and reactivate the odor throughout the house. Instead, scrape it off with a plastic knife as much as you can, and then use a steamer to get the rest off & wipe it w/ a sponge/cloth, whatever.

There's no point in cleaning the house until the kids have moved out

So true for all. So true with kids. I pick up the best I can with kids and shedding dogs but know it will never stay perfect for long. Tilex is evil. I once had a bottle of it that I bought at the grocery store leak all over my carpet before I put it away it was a disaster.
