Bring on the labels!

As a former executive assistant, I was very thankful for labels

I think labels are ok.

I do like getting a personal message in the card. I think it is a waste of time to just sign your name, so inpersonal, and I would very much dislike it if the signature was printed off like Calimari said.

I agree with you here. Too impersonal.

I use labels...I think they look 'neat' (as in tidy). I'm not a fan of my handwriting on envelopes, so that's why I use them.

I handwrite the note and signature inside of each card.

I love holiday cards and honestly, I don't have a lot of rules about what is 'right' or 'wrong'. I know I'm in the minority but I love family letters (I don't find them braggy), photo cards (don't find them braggy either)...don't have issues with cards come early in the month, or after Christmas. Don't care about the stamp or if it has labels or is handwritten. I'm easy to please! LOL!

I don't care if the label is typed, calligraphed, or scrawled in crayon, or whether it comes in November, December, or January. I care that you were thinking about me.

I too love family letters! I would never think that they were braggy... just a nice way to catch up on the entire year of people we don't see that often.

I have no problem with printed address labels - so many people these days keep their address book on the computer and it makes sense to just print off the labels. The postal service probably really prefers if you do it that way! I do dislike getting the personalized cards where the name is printed on the inside and there is no personal note at all - I am even okay if all the person handwrites is "Dear M" at the top. I just don't like it when it looks like all they did was stuff the envelope and throw a stamp on it.

I think it's only appropriate to address the cards by hand (return address labels/ stamping are acceptable if they are festive), unless the card is going to a business acquaintance or contact, then printing by computer or label could be utilized. I feel that if it is someone you personally know (relatives, friends, neighbors, etc.) or does a personal service for you (assistant, daycare/sitter, hairdresser, local teen that regularly mows your grass or shovels your snow), you should personally address the card as well as the message inside. (and if you have stinky handwriting, then it's time you slowed down or practiced!)
If I get a card that is computer printed inside and out from someone I personally know, I just feel like we weren't worth the person's time or effort and I don't mean that much to them. I already know that the Insurance company (and the like) doesn't have time or personnel to devote to this, so I am not offended in these instances and I don't really know any of the office members anyway.
I understand Christmas is such a busy time of year, but if done in spurts (so many cards at a time or taken along in a tote for during times of waiting with nothing to do) it is something that can be pumped out in little bits of time you won't really miss- or in time you didn't know you had.
In the end, I believe the effort of writing your own cards really shows you care.
