Mine are actually cut at about 2 inches long when I make them...2 inches curled, not flat. If you want them longer, just cut them longer. The biggest I've made are 3 inches long...for bigger girls' heads...but I have a 3 year old toddler.
You want at LEAST 20 cut ribbons to make a bow...if you want it full. If I'm making a pair (for pigtails, doggy ears, etc.), I bunch about 15 together in each bow. The site where I learned to make korkers suggested 30 cut ribbons...but I think 30 looks better in the bigger bows. The 2 inch one I made for dd with 30 cuts in it is too big for her head.
