This is for mamma2mercedes and of course anyone else who wants to give it a try!

Okay first thing you do is take some ribbon and cut it about 18 inches long. the 1.5 ribbon works best for practicing. thats what I have here.

Take your ribbon and rold the end over the top, so it looks like a awareness ribbon.

Then take your LONG end/tail and fold it up the same way, so you have 2 loops.

Then waht you want to do is take that long tail again, and fold it up the opposite direction, you should have 3 loops now. You should do it basically the sam way as your first loop(where you made an awareness ribbon) but it goes in the opposite direction.

Again take that long tail, and loop it again.

Now clutch the middle of the bow, and try to neatly fold it in an accordian style.

I use floral wire, but you can use anything to tie it in the middle. Some like to use elastic thread, but I like the wire becuase it holds so well. I just take the wire and wrap it around, then do a twist to tighten it. I cut off the excess with wire cutters.

Fluffup the bow and trim your ends.

To 'STACK' the bow, do another bow with a diffrent color OR a diffrent size ribbon and 'stack' it on top of the first bow. I tie them together with floral wire.

to put a knot center on the bow: take some 7/8s ribbon about 6 or 7 inches. Tie a small knot in it, but keep it fairly loose. Then you take the FLAT end of the knot and hot glue it to the center.

The best clips to use are the french clips. These are the clips that have the little spring in side of them, and you push both sides together to open it. YOu can remove the middle part, its easy to do.

After you glue the knot center down, glue the clip onto the bow. Take the ribbon from the center and glue it downon the clip, this makes your bow and clip more secure. Less chance of the clip falling off the bow. Clip off the excess, and put the middle back in your clip.

Make sure you either heat seal or fray check your cut ends so they do get frayed up. Nothing worse than a messy, frayed bow! LOL

To heat seal it, quickly run the end of the cut ribbon through a lighter or a match flame. Don't hold it there or it will burn. It will fray if you don't treat the ends with either heat or fray check. Fray check is pretty cheap at the walmart craft dept, but it leave a residue on your ribbon so use it sparingly.

Some of the bigger bow makers use a wood cutting/burning tool to heat the ends. They actually CUT the ribbon with the tool and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
