I painted our small bathroom a light tan color yesterday, the ceiling is still white but I'm considering painting it the same color as the walls. The vanity and cabinets are white, the tile around the tub is white and the floors are white. Should I paint the ceiling or leave it white? What is the current trend?

We're in the process of renovating every room in our home. The walls were mostly paneling when we moved in (or scary wallpaper). Having said that, we've been doing a lot of painting.

For the ceilings, we've been adding a little bit of white to whatever color we use on the walls in that room. It is a more subtle transition and if you make mistakes they aren't as noticeable. Our kitchen is tan and it turned out very well using the lighter tan on the ceiling.

I think it all depends on the room size and light in the room when we moved into our house the bathroom was all the same color ceiling and walls. smaller batheroom with no window.... I could not wait to paint the ceiling white to make it lighter adn brighter in there. We have all white ceiling now. I would feel blah if everyting was the same color or shade but that is just me.

No! I can't stand white ceilings. Unfortunately, a lot of rooms in our house still have 'cottage cheese' ceilings - which we are slowly removing. My master bathroom is dark beige with a faux finish on the walls of gold (yes, metallic) and an off white. The ceiling is the darkest beige that I used - sort of a cafe au lait color.

My DD's room has a blue sky with stars, a pink moon, and fluffy white clouds on the ceiling.

Our living room is dark wood paneling. We'll be putting a wood panelling ceiling in the den as well.

Yes...I like white ceilings. I don't know if it's a 'current trend' or not but that's just what we like! We did paint our outside porch ceiling at our old house light blue and it was really pretty.

I like white ceilings...however, I have contemplated painting my bathroom all one color, including the ceiling. On HGTV's "Designed to Sell" they said that painting a ceiling the same color as the walls can make a room look smaller.

Ours are all white. They are textured and its just easier to leave them. However none of our walls are white.

I would leave the ceiling white, otherwise you might end up with that closed-in feeling and it might be too dark.

Yup, I agree. Ours are all white, even though none of the walls are.

I think having white ceilings opens up the room and makes it brighter.
