I absolutely HATE weeding! Does anyone have an easy way to do it?

I've got one row that didn't take and it's getting so overgrown w/weeds I can't keep up.
I tried the roll of plastic like stuff, but planting through that was too much of a pain. I guess on that row, I can put something down though. Does a hoe work good? Or do you have another secret?

I haven't had to "weed" yet. I have pulled about 3 little ones out, but that's it. We did roundup the entire area this year before we dug it up, so I am assuming that has something to do with it. I have also sprinkled down some Preen to help with the new weeds.

I do try to pull what I see when I go out every morning to water. So hopefully I can keep it to small doses like that. I don't think I will be this lucky all summer.

I've been attempting newspaper with grass clippings piled on top of it. I've always hated the black plastic idea myself though my mother is a fan. I haven't had a lot of weeding to do so far but that should change after the weeks worth of rain that we've had! And I'm really behind on one of my flower beds - it's in the front of the house where everyone can drive by and see it! I'm trying not to stress about it (baby is due in less than two weeks) but it really is bugging me!

I use a hoe mostly.. But eventually you have to bend over to get some of them. I also have a honey hoe.. It is only an inch wide and 3-4 inches long, it is wonderful to work around plants.

I have tried newspapers, I have tried black plastic, we round up before he tills it, but you still get weeds. Preen is costly, but it works.

I water in the evenings so the water has time to absorb and the plants have time to soak it up befor the heat begins.

As a kid we had to weed 2 rows a day in our HUGE family garden. I'm not to the point with my 3 & 5 yr old yet, but they do show interest, so l let them pull some of the ovbious ones.

Good luck!

I got a roll of landscape plastic for free at a yard sale. We have it in our garden so there will be no weeding for us.

I weed weekly. It is very easy for me though. I have 4 raised garden boxes. So I don't have big rows of plants to weed through.
I am not really an outdoors kind of person, but I really like working in my garden. It relaxes me and I find it very rewarding to see all my hard work paying off. Especially when I get to eat the "fruits" of my labors.

I've read keeping your rows short kind of helps with the weeding process as well. I remember my mom use to have this huge rows and that ends of them would never get the work that the beginnings did. We'll see if this theory works, mine are all short.

How often? Not enough. I feel like I could spend an entire weekend weeding and all new ones will pop up by the next morning again!

A few years ago I planted morning glory along a fence. It was very pretty but started to get to big and would choke other plants. But now it won't stop coming back! Every day I see new sprouts coming up all over...it's spreading!!! So far I'm keeping up with it but check back in a month :-/
