I would love to hear ideas on making nice smelling scents thru out your house. I spend a fortune on glade wisp, plug ins, scented oils etc.... and they don't even last that long.

I was wondering if there is something cheaper that I could use for my dishwasher other than jet dry? My dishwasher is in desperate need of a "cleaning" and jet dry is SO expensive.

This isn't really homemade, but it's cheaper than carpet cleaners and oxy clean......I'm not sure that this will work with all of the homemade glass cleaners, but I splurge on Windex because I use it to clean everything. This is what made me a believer: I spilled a whole bottle of barn red nail polish on my very light beige carpet. Yes, I should have known better than to paint my nails in on the carpet, and now, believe me, I do. BUT I looked online for ways to get nail polish out of the carpet, and Windex was mentioned more than anything else. So I thought to myself, "What the hell, there's a bright red spot about 3'x2' in the middle of the floor, this can't make it any worse." AND IT WORKED. It took about a half of a bottle (this spot was huge) but every bit of it came out. You can't even see it, my husband didn't notice it when he got home, and even when I told him, he couldn't see it! (I wasn't even going to tell him, but I felt guilty) Ever since then I have used it on everything I get on the carpet, it works great - mud, dog poo (don't ask!), diet soda, nail polish.... It worked better than oxy clean for me. It didn't bleach out my carpet like Spot Shot and Resolve did. You may want to test it on a hidden area if you're going to try it though, carpets are all different. I just spray and blot with a paper towel until it's gone. Sorry this post was so long, but my excitement from getting that stain out came back when I started typing this story :D

I would have never thought to use Windex on carpet that is great that the nailpolish came out with it.

to clean your dishwasher it is recommended to use lemon kool aid. Also instead of jet dry I fill the thing with vinegar and it works great. I will have to try the windex thing and the febreeze recipe. Seeing I make my own baby wipes I can't imagine that any of these should be too hard for me. Patricia & Treston

DO NOT MIX IT.. Just open the pack and pour into the soap dispenser it worked really well on my dishwasher but mine was not real dirty so you might have to do it a time or two. HTH PAtricia
